The Hudson Hotel’s Regal Hall of Ale

We heard you like beer halls.

Never mind who told us. It’s not important.

What’s important is that we get you stretching out on a leather sofa next to a fire with a beer in your hand as soon as possible.

Let us begin.

This one’s called Hudson Common, and it’s a gargantuan Valhalla of ales, lagers, stouts and aggressive lounging, opening Monday at the Hudson hotel.

Picture a classic Bavarian beer hall. Now picture a ski lodge. Now picture your living room, with a window shade that has Robert Plant’s face on it. Now blend all those pictures together. If your mind hasn’t imploded, you’re picturing this. And if you’re picturing this, then we hope you like Bloody Mary bacon fries, because there’s a good chance you’re having them here.

You can attack this in a lot of ways. Personally, we see you as the bring-a-group-of-friends-and-play-foosball-near-the-fireplace type. (Related: they’ve got a foosball table here.)

At the center of the place, you’ve got four black communal tables. They’re where you wash down french toast grilled cheese and BBQ bacon burgers with mugs of Captain Lawrence and Sixpoint. There’s a carved-wood-and-leather throne at the end of the table that’s got your name written all over it.

You just need to squint really hard to actually see it.
