Thus, your recovery plan: Technogym, a new SoHo fitness gallery that’s part showroom, part workout space and almost entirely smothered in Italian leather, open now.

Let’s get one thing out of the way first: this is the kind of place you’ll want to break out your tank top that most resembles formalwear. Think Dubai Palace meets modern art concept space meets a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home gym.
 
The walls: a mixture of mirrored glass, rich leather and plasma flat-screens. The wall behind the grand staircase you’ll descend on the way down to your private training session: constructed almost entirely out of living plants. And then there’s the library area, with its coffee table art books, an espresso machine and fireside sofas (perfect for curling biceps by a roaring flame).

But the pièce de résistance here is a futuristic robot workout contraption known simply as the Kinesis Personal: essentially an entire home gym that can be mounted on your apartment wall and uses a system of cables, pulleys, levers, rods, cones and connecting joints that mimic the exact motions of the human body.
 
You should also know that it’s never been sold in the States before, Mick Jagger loves it, and it’s fully covered in gold leaf.
 
Kind of like your toaster.
