We’re lovers. You know that. But every now and again, something comes across our desks that just seems... suspicious. Because of the tremendous material upside to all our lives if these claims pan out, we at times put ourselves in harm’s way to investigate. Albeit skeptically.

We call it: Skeptical Investigation. (Trademark pending.)

THE CLAIM
That Lunch Calling, a new service that delivers from food trucks, is going to... deliver you lunch from a food truck. No waiting in line in the freezing cold. Just amply-heated-office anticipation.

THE INVESTIGATION
Our intrepid researcher tried to order lunch on their own. Turns out, you can’t do that—you need at least seven to 20 people in your building to sign up for the service first, depending on your location. (Consider it an early-adoption cost.)

So the hungry wolves of UD Labs all signed up, got the building approved for deliveries and checked out which trucks were within the 10-block radius. The answer: only Phil’s Steaks. On another day, Frites ’N’ Meats, Big D’s Grub and Mike ’N’ Willie’s might also be rolling nearby. And there’re more coming... soon... ish.

But cheesesteak fever had swept our hungry lab techs, so they ordered eight of them.

THE VERDICT
It’s a hassle getting your building signed up. But... cheesesteaks came. They were fresh, individually wrapped and filled with cheesesteaky goodness. And our lab technicians had zero occurrences of frostbite. Success.
