Wine, Duck and You in the East Village

Ugh, another day, another restaurant opening.

Another perfect, delicious, charming restaurant opening that will invariably enrich your days and nights for the duration of its delightful existence.

Gets old, doesn’t it?

No. The correct answer is “No.”

So avail yourself of Virginia’s, a rad little New American small-plates date spot from a bunch of impressive folks, now open in the East Village.

It’s like a ’27 Yankees of people involved in this one. You’ve got vets of Per Se, Locanda Verde and Roberta’s, as well as a couple fellows from Charlie Trotter’s and Alinea, two of Chicago’s greatest restaurants.

In other words, it’s not unreasonable to ask for a wine or meal recommendation or two. Although, if you’re the visual-learning type, learn here in the slideshow that the duck breast and the caramelized romanesco look like safe bets from the menu.

Verily, you’ll want to bring a date for dinner here, but soon there’ll be brunch, too (there always is). And at that brunch you’ll want to bring a couple other people and make sure to grab the wraparound banquette that’s right at the window.

Sun is going to happen all over that.
