Social Call

A Filipino-ish Charmer in Williamsburg

None 8 Photos Manila Social
Today marks the start of four straight days of rain.

Drag.

But it also marks the start of something that’s pretty much the total opposite of four straight days of rain.

Something called Manila Social, a crush-worthy Filipino-ish date spot on a quiet corner in Williamsburg. It’s open now.

For a time, this was a mere pop-up. Now the popping is done, roots have been set, and here are the ways you’ll employ the place’s charms.

On dinner dates.
Obvious? Sure, especially once you get a look at the slideshow, but important. And in no way does that diminish the satisfaction of sharing deep-fried lotus root (the iceberg wedge of the quasi-Filipino-former-pop-up-turned-real-restaurant world) and duck adobo.

Sunny-day brunches.
Without getting too purple on you, the light hits the orchids and the potted palms that dot this spot just perfectly in the early day. And since it’s also hitting mango-soufflé pancakes à la mode, just... yeah, you want to come for brunch.

Spontaneous cocktailing.
Infusions (mango, spices, etc.) will be the name of the game here. The kind favored by the man behind the drinks at Bar Cyrk.

F**k rain.
