Dream Downtown’s Mexican Wonderland

Phew, this is never an easy thing to tell someone...

...

Brace yourself.

...

But we’re going to need you to eat a lot of tacos tonight before you go out...

Specifically, at Bodega Negra, an ambitious seductress of a Mexican spot by way of London, now soft-open at the Dream Downtown.

You remember Marble Lane? Well this is where that was, tucked behind what’s now Melvin’s Juice Box. It looks about as different from Marble Lane as possible. A lot of wood and sexy darkness. Tequila-barrel walls. S&M belts and a pillory. A giant disco ball made of pennies. Also, there are tacos.

Animals made into tacos here include:
—Peking duck
—soft-shell crab
—lamb barbacoa

Gotta love those barbacoa lambs...

Anyway, it’s not all tacos and sadomasochism—you can get a red snapper roasted in banana leaf. There’s a slow-roasted lamb for two. The point is, if we may, yum. The kind of yum that happens with groups of friends who are about to get weird at PH-D for the evening.

As in post-pillory weird.
