French Connection
An LA/DC Legend Lands in NYC

Subtlety.

There’s a time and a place for it.

That time is... not now. And that place... has never been further away than this.

Gaze upon Villard Michel Richard, a palatial French place that happens to be Michel Richard’s New York debut, opening tonight in the old Gilt space at the New York Palace hotel.

You know Monsieur Richard. He’s a legend in LA and DC. Now he’s arrived in New York. And how. This place has 50-foot arched ceilings in a gilded chamber complete with mythological friezes. And that’s just the bar.

It’s broken down into three spaces (each of which is a designated landmark):

Villard Michel Richard. The main dining room, and your “casual” option. Casual as in lobster burgers and Armagnac cocktails. Casual as in blue-and-white-swirled marble columns. Casual as in a giant glass cube of wine (think the Midtown Apple Store, but with booze). Casual as in... not all that casual.

The Gallery. The prix-fixe-only option, opening in a couple weeks for your considerable razor-clam-chowder and Colorado lamb hankerings. It’s a smaller, English-oak-paneled room with a fireplace and seven-foot photos of classic Hollywood starlets. Go with it.

The Bar. We covered that. Your standard towering, gilded, Renaissance-style watering hole.

Nothing special.
