Welcome to Arlington Club, a cavernous magnum opus of meat-eating old New York, opening Friday on the UES.

This is a union between ex-BLT-boss Laurent Tourondel and the folks behind Tao. But it’s... nothing like Tao. Picture old Penn Station. Now picture yourself and another carnivore sitting down to a 34-ounce, 28-day-aged côte de boeuf there. You’re basically picturing this place—two levels of grandness with a soaring, arched brick-and-steel ceiling that you have to crane your neck to take in the full majesty of.

It’s a place for a statement date. Provided your date is into Kobe-beef-and-truffle sushi, steamed red snapper, filet mignon carpaccio and seven hulking cuts of steak (as any date of yours should be).

Get there a half hour early and sidle up to the bar just through the entrance. The bar that looks a little like the Statue of Liberty’s crown. Have something neat.

For dinner, you want the second-level mezzanine. Let’s not hedge here: it’s gorgeous. It’s got a clock that used to be on the Bowery Savings Bank, steel-arched glass ceilings, exposed I beams...

That’s prime steak-eating architecture right there.
