Your New Sausage-and-a-Beer Spot on the LES

Sausage season.

That time when there’s a beer in your hand and a polka in your heart.

Some people call it “fall.” Others: “Oktoberfest.”

The records are unclear and the calendar is mum on the subject, but you know it when it’s here. You feel it in your gut.

You’re feeling it right now...

So pull up a stool at Links, an aggressively wooden sliver of late-night sausage, beer and apple bushels, opening Monday on the LES.

Pretty straightforward spot—planks of wood that look like they used to hold up a coal mine, bricks, some Edison bulbs, you and a Valhalla of tubed meats.

You’ve got a few varieties—beer brat with caraway kraut, andouille with apple relish and truffle mayo, kielbasa, seafood sausage—all washed down with mugs of Two Brothers or Original Sin’s Newton Pippin hard cider. It’s like consuming autumn.

There’s a takeout window. For sausage. Make a mental note. Walk in. Grab a stool right next to one of those baskets of apples that are everywhere. Those are for you. Just take one. Better yet: order up some clothbound cheddar and honey, and have one with that. You forgot to get a Sigmund’s pretzel. Shame on you. Have one of those, too. Oh, look, the Giants are on.

Sausage season.
