Do you know where you’ll be on March 9, 2016?

If your answer isn’t “floating above the Equator, watching the solar eclipse from a two-masted schooner in an Indonesian archipelago,” don’t bother responding.

Meet the eclipse trump card that is the Solar Eclipse Sailing Adventure, a one-time, 12-day trip that revolves around a solar eclipse much like the earth revolves around the sun (so sorry...), booking now for a March departure.

Your home for the 12 days at sea: the 24-passenger Ombak Putih. She has a sun deck equipped with daybeds, a large deck table for alfresco dinners and 12 cabins below deck. She also has mattresses and light blankets available for sleeping on the upper deck. Of course she does.

And for when the eclipse isn’t happening, there are snorkels, paddleboards and kayaks kept on board. There’s meeting Afu, the oldest clove tree in the world. There are evening lectures by an Australian National Maritime Museum research associate (probably to explain things like Afu). There’s you viewing the slideshow.

But yes, the main event is when the ship anchors at 0.4°N, 127.4°E, directly beneath the track of the moon’s shadow, to experience the sun’s 100% occultation for the longest possible time.

Be there or be... wildly disappointed.
