The Ranch at Emerald Valley

Rocky Road

A Colorado Lodge for Lost Weekends

Fly-fishing. Archery. Sunset horseback rides. Surf-and-turf cookouts. Fireside hot tub chats. A complete, six-person game of Risk.

Pretty thorough summer bucket list right there.

Also, pretty typical day at this place...

Queue up some John Denver for The Ranch at Emerald Valley, a woodsy new wilderness retreat in Colorado that’s devoted to the timeless art of not-roughing-it-whatsoever, taking reservations now.

This spot comes courtesy of the folks behind the Broadmoor. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. Massive, century-old resort. Kind of popular with the ex-president set. Anyway, this is their new neighbor. Ten cabins. Ten fireplaces. One (unofficially) clothing-optional lake.

What you should really do is come here for summer’s grand finale. Ride a horseback through the Rockies. Partake in the kind of campfire cookout that includes lobster and Wagyu. Act like you’re going to do something outdoorsy and then just order a bunch of room service and never leave your bed.

Of course, should you actually find the need to stretch your legs, call down to the concierge. They’ve got access to mountain bikes. And hot-air balloons. And fishing gear.

And extra towels.
