Ah, yesteryear.
A time when men spent their days rolling up their shirtsleeves, polishing their hogs in the driveway and
then retiring to the backyard to sink some brews. A time when men were men. And dames were dames. And babies
were babies. We could go on.
But instead, let's focus on the shirtsleeves.
Which brings us to
Freemans Sporting Club, the new online store from the rugged NYC store of the
same name, open now.
Chances are, you know the Freemans name already—perhaps you've sat underneath a taxidermied deer at their
downtown restaurant, or gotten your hair snipped and your beard trimmed at their old-school barbershop.
(Don't hold your breath for an online barber.)
This site's a lot like that—it's like your dad's favorite tailor from back in the day was whisked to the
future, and set up shop online in 2010. (They've even commissioned seasonal drawings to evoke that "Don
Draper building a swing set" vibe.) This is where you'll go when you want to stock up on tough-ass leather
belts, handmade jeans (from Georgia) and plaid shirts, modeled on what machinists wore during the
Depression.
Try not to read anything into that.
