Breaking Away

Like eBay for Breakups

UD - BreakUpGoods.com You gave it your best shot.

But it didn't work out. So it's time to say farewell, go your separate ways and remember the good times.

And, of course, to turn a profit.

Welcome to BreakUpGoods.com, a new site devoted to helping the recently parted sell the detritus of their breakup for cold, hard cash, online now.

Basically, it's like eBay for breakups. (Only without eBay's top-notch functionality and intuitive design.) If you've ever posted something to Craigslist, you can do this—upload a picture of what you want to unload, include a heartbreaking backstory ("Love in the Time of Cholera was the first book she ever gave to me"), and sell away. Pretty much anything goes—the categories include everything from concert tickets (you never liked opera anyway) to pets to musical instruments. (It's pretty hard to split a banjo two ways.)

And not that you would ever use such crass terms, but this is also, of course, a place where you can take advantage of folks on the rebound. Among the recent uploads are a 2004 Passat, a pit bull terrier and a hacksaw.

Presumably last used to tear a heart in two.
