We don't mean to ruin your Monday, but there's something you need to know.
We just got wind of something out there that's, well, dangerous, and may forever change a once-innocuous
act: answering the phone. To put it another way, you'll never look at caller ID the same way again.
The name of this menace to society: SpoofApp. It's out now, and we consider it our sacred duty to
tell you about it.
In short, it's an app for BlackBerry or Android that's meant to help wily pranksters pull off the perfect
crank calls—they can disguise their voices as male or female, and even rig caller ID to display a fake
number. (Or worse, a real one.)
But we see some other dangerous possibilities: your boss could call as your masseuse to confirm where you
really go during your "doctor's appointments." Your girlfriend could call as your buddy and discover that
this weekend's "fantasy football draft" is actually...a fantasy football draft. In Vegas. And your mom could
call as your boss, which is misguided because you don't take his calls, either.
How you'll recognize this ruse: you can't. And there's nothing you can do about it, either. The world will
never be the same. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together…mass hysteria.
Or you could just start screening your calls.
