Handsome Threads. From the Italian Air Force.

Those crazy, game-changing Italians.

First, they gave us pizza.

Then, those, um, “bunga bunga” soirees.

And now, helmets. For your next brunch.

Say buongiorno to Aeronautica Militare, a new South Beach shop full of waterproof bomber jackets, leather-padded helmets and other Air Force–inspired goods straight from Italy, now open.

About that Italian Air Force business: the label was given special permission by the government to use the military’s official badges and logos on all of their clothing and accessories. So you’ll feel just like you’ve piloted a jet fighter. Okay, not really. But hey, the stuff’s legit.

And it’s sort of ruggedly Euro. It’s the kind of gear made for enjoying a beer at an A.C. Milan game or for breezy patio afternoons spent with a Negroni in one hand and a copy of some classic Italian tome (e.g., the Pirelli calendar) in the other.

Now they’ve commandeered a spot on Washington Avenue, outfitted it with corrugated tin and vintage military lockers, and stocked it with their wares—like waterproof bomber jackets with a metal eagle pinned to the chest (for that rainy soccer game), striped cotton polos (for that brunch) and leather-padded helmets with a snap-in visor.

Best not to leave your date to chance.
