Rock Solid
Your First Look Inside Gibraltar

It's the age-old Miami riddle: plenty of waterfront, barely any waterfront restaurants.

Sure, there are places to get beer and crab claws (Monty's and Shuckers, we're looking at you), but when it comes to romantic, tiki torch-lit spaces where you can feast on veal cheeks and sweet corn doughnuts with life-altering views of the bay…we ain't got 'em.

Until now.

Behold your first look inside Gibraltar, Grove Isle's new home of elegant bayside dining, now open and ready to serve you a gratis cocktail (more on that later).

First things first: Gibraltar takes over the old Baleen space, with a million-dollar infusion of contemporary glam. Gone are the outdated monkey designs and ho-hum menu of tourist-friendly eats. In their place, you'll find that same view perched on the northern end of Grove Isle, but now there's a stunning glass-enclosed private dining room and a restored outdoor patio that practically screams marriage proposal.

Your chef is a man who survived trial by fire as Donald Trump's personal cook, and emerged with dishes that can stand up to the fiercest standards (and the fiercest comb-overs). Which means you'll feast on plates of mussels steamed in a fragrant coconut-coriander broth with mint, tomato and lobster oil, then move on to pan-roasted guinea hen.

We doubt you'll want to fire him.
