To the Max
Where You'll Be at 2am During Basel

Art Basel makes people do crazy things.
Taking a chance on the next Jackson Pollock of watercolors, for one.
And now: transporting a bar a thousand miles—and a couple of decades—from the grungy-but-soulful
downtown New York of the early 1990s…to Miami of 2009.
Presenting
Max Fish by O.H.W.O.W., a pop-up lounge importing the grit and ironic mustaches of the
Lower East Side of Manhattan to Wynwood, opening this Wednesday.
If you're not familiar with the semi-iconic NY bar Max Fish, all you need to know is that it's the sort of
place the characters of
Rent would have frequented, paying their bar tabs with paintings and rock
arias. And for five days next week, you'll find it at PS14—where the art, the wallpaper, the funky
lanterns and even some of the same characters will be flown down to re-create Ludlow Street circa
1990.
What all this means for you, other than a chance to bring back your EMF T-shirt: you'll have a clubhouse to
go to after all your art shows and posh parties fizzle out—roll in around midnight, play a little
pool, drink a few $2 PBRs and see what kind of indie mischief you can get into. Expect a loud, packed bar,
with live bands, DJs, an outdoor courtyard screening video art and a scene that won't die off until
4am.
FYI, the general rate is three PBRs for every rock aria.
