Forget About It
Amnesia Returns to South Beach

There are few things sadder in life than a massive nightclub shuttered, empty, sitting
dormant.
Waiting for some kind folk to resurrect its cavernous soul.
In the case of the old Opium Garden space in SoFi, we’re happy to report a revival is under way...
Prepare yourself for
Amnesia,
a two-story oasis of prodigious lounging, dancing and
cocktailing, opening next weekend with a massive DJ-fueled bonanza.
If you were here back in SoBe’s mid-’90s heyday, then you might remember that this space was
originally called (wait for it) Amnesia. Now a team of Frenchmen, including the international DJ Bob
Sinclar, has taken over the space and filled it with olive-colored leather couches, lots of plants and a
dance floor large enough to accommodate you and 799 of your closest friends.
Your journey starts at the velvet ropes on Collins Avenue (consider them a formality). Then it’s on
to one of four bars inside, or to a table tucked away on the multitiered VIP section. You’ll be surrounded
by a bass-pounding, color-changing wall of LED screens—all beaming images corresponding to the music,
which on opening night will be courtesy of Sinclar himself. Later on, expect turntable gurus from all the
major nightlife outposts: Ibiza, Vegas, France.
No word on DJs from Cleveland.
