Get Out of Dodge
Your Palm Beach Survival Guide

You love the magic city, but sometimes you need a break from all that…caliente-ness. This weekend is the perfect chance for a jaunt up north, where the traffic's lighter, the beaches surf-ier and the vibe's downright leisurely. Here are the best new developments on the gold coast.

A Daylong Steam Bath

You could easily spend a day at the gargantuan new spa at the Ritz, with bubbling hot tubs, tropical steam showers, heated slabs of marble, and an outdoor courtyard with banana swings and gratis cupcakes. And from now until the end of the month, you can get a customized scrub and a day pass for $50.

Turkey Dinner Daniel Boulud-Style

The cushy Florida outpost of the NY chef's empire is setting a Thanksgiving repast complete with the roasted bird and all the trimmings, which means mashed potatoes and giblet gravy, Brussels sprouts with currants and chestnuts, and sweet potato flan with pecan streusel. We recommend short naps in the courtyard in between courses.

Lobster Rolls and Whoopie Pies in Delray

This new restaurant from an heiress to the L.L. Bean fortune is the kind of retro lobster shack you'd usually find on the coast of Maine, not Florida. It's where you'll go for fresh lobster rolls, clam chowder, steam mussels and buns packed with sweet, lightly mayonnaised meat.

Surfing and Lounging on Atlantic Ave

The newest guesthouse to hit Delray's bohemian strip is a cross between a posh boutique hotel and Bahamas-style cottages. You'll find luxuries like Egyptian linens, huge flat-screens and a private beach club as well as aquatic fun like surfing, snorkeling and kayaking. And from now until December 20, rooms are just $159 a night.

Todd English Goes to Boca

The dapper celeb chef expands his culinary orbit with this new Italian outpost in the former Opus 5 space. Come here to feast on crispy fig and prosciutto pizzas, homemade veal agnolotti and his trademark Carpetbagger Oysters: fried bivalves wrapped in beef carpaccio over truffled whipped potatoes. Much better than Scalawag Oysters.
