Sweet Dream
A Deco Taj Mahal in South Beach

Something is happening in South Beach.

Early reports suggest eight-foot-tall Indian gods, rooftop cabanas and moody blue rooms.

Also: bikinis.

Consider this your first official notice about the Dream South Beach, your new Arabian-styled hideaway, now soft-open two blocks from the beach.

Imagine what you’d get if you took two ’40s-era hotels on Collins, connected their rooftops via a space-age bridge, installed a sexy Moroccan lounge on the ground floor and outfitted all the rooms with a mod Alhambra aesthetic—that’s pretty much what they’ve done here.

Exciting things are due later this summer. There’ll be an 8,000-square-foot rooftop lounge with a pool and communal tanning beds. And an in-house restaurant helmed by a celeb-attracting New York chef opens in two weeks.

But for now, you’ll make do with one of 108 rooms (equipped with high-tech lighting), or bed down in one of two Sun Suites. Basically, it’s a top-floor duplex with a spiral staircase leading to a private rooftop cabana above. There you’ll find an outdoor living room with a huge flat-screen, speakers connected to your iPod dock back in the room and enough space for you and a dozen swimsuited friends to retreat after dips in the pool across the skywalk.

You always are a gracious host.
