A Swanky New Gastropub in Brickell

Something big is happening today.

No, we're not talking about the 59th ice bath for Dwight Freeney's ankle.

We're referring to a place where you might want to go—right now—for a burger, a beer, some friendly conversation with a beautiful dinner-mate and one of the most in-your-face views of the Miami skyline.

Introducing JB Kitchen and Bar, opening today in Brickell.

You might already know this cavernous spot in downtown. It's the former Badrutt's Place, owned by the family behind a posh resort in St. Moritz. The owners haven't changed, but the space has—they've done away with the elevated VIP section and opened up the dining room with a massive square bar ideal for grabbing drinks and solo dinners.

The menu is courtesy of a Peruvian chef and a Michael's Genuine alum, so there's plenty of simple, homey dishes like the Braised Short Rib Sandwich and Lobster Mac and Cheese along with South American standbys like Lomo Saltado (sautéed filet mignon).

And because JB is committed to being a good neighbor, they're passing out gratis Black Cherry Manhattans and cantaloupe martinis all week during happy hour.

This is an exciting end to an otherwise dull week.
