The Macchialina Guys Go Far East

Hong Kong in the 1940s must have been an interesting place.

Too bad you’ll never be able to experience it.

Actually, wait... this spot gets pretty damn close.

Say hello to Bazi, a restaurant and lounge from the Macchialina guys where you’ll want to bring a date for Peking duck, noodles, dim sum and other things from the Far East, opening tonight in the Marlin Hotel on South Beach.

The Marlin Hotel. You know this art deco realm. It had a recording studio where the likes of U2, Jay Z, Aerosmith and Pharrell Williams laid down tracks. And now it... looks a lot more Asian. Gold accents everywhere, bonsai trees, Buddha heads, even a gold dragon imported straight from China and repainted by a Wynwood artist. (See the slideshow here.)

So you’ll come in with a date. You’ll start at one of the two bars with a Negroni or a Coke and a Smile (gin, lemon, Coca-Cola foam). Then you’ll head to a table for pork belly dumplings, fried rice, noodles and Peking duck. Then, depending on how the date is going, it might be time for a Text an Uber. That’s a frozen drink with rum.

Or you might just text an Uber.
