A Waterfront Japanese Date Spot Rises

Not-so-breaking news: it’s Friday.

Breaking news: here’s Soho Bay. It’s a new bayfront stunner for sushi and foie buns made by a former Nobu chef. And it’s opening Tuesday in South Beach. (Here’s the slideshow and here’s the menu.)

Pretty spectacular spot, with all those floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the bay. And while the warm rust paneling and red Italian-leather swivel chairs inside will suit you just fine, it’s the patio situation with the potted greenery and woven rattan chairs you’ll want to pay attention to. And they’re saying: date night.

Lead said date toward the bar. It’s a white onyx number ready to supply you with all of the lemongrass-ginger mojitos you could ever want. No, don’t worry about the bar—it’ll recover.

Then you’ll want to be on that massive patio. For sushi, foie buns and Wagyu beef cheeks. Summon over your waiter for tableside wasabi root grating.

Soon, you’ll be able to anchor your boat out on the bay and they’ll send over a vessel to pick you up and bring you over for dinner.

Until then, maybe just drive.
