A Barbecue-and-Sushi Mashup in Fort Lauderdale

Decisions. Some are a tough call.

Fantasy football: Manning or Brees.

Pool attire: no Speedos or definitely no Speedos.

Dinner: sushi or barbecue.

Actually, that last one’s pretty easy.

Say domo arigato to Chow, an Asian-and-barbecue-mashup joint with crazy notions about your sushi (it’s stuffed with fried chicken) and cocktails (they’re served in baggies), opening tonight in Fort Lauderdale.

It’s like a Thai shantytown squeezed itself into a sliver of real estate here—corrugated tin walls, wooden pallets used as storage and a sushi bar doubling as a river house complete with smokestack and hanging wire skimmers. (But don’t take our word for it. Here’s the slideshow.)

Next time you’re passing through Broward to catch a show at Revolution, stop by and consider how your evening might subtly improve after consuming some sushi rolls stuffed with fried chicken and a 10-ounce burger slathered in a spicy peanut sauce. Also: a rum-laced beauty served up in a ziplock bag called the Pineapple Bang.

Now, before you go, locate the stairs by the front entrance. There’s a “No. 7” sign and a white arrow right above it. Follow it. You’ll find an unmarked whiskey bar hiding up there with tobacco-infused Old Fashioneds.

Tobacco-infused Old Fashioneds mark the spot.
