The Road to Gloria

Mojitos, Roast Pork and Two Estefans on the Beach

None 5 Photos Larios on the Beach
A wise sage once said, “The rhythm is gonna get you.”

At the time, you just never thought it would get you to order a bunch of mojitos and legendary roast pork...

Turn it upside down at Larios on the Beach, the totally redone Cuban spot that’s now got a sexier, more Estefan-y touch (yes, Gloria and Emilio still own the place)—now open in Miami Beach.

Let’s take a look at what’s changed and what hasn’t:

Then: Dark wood tables. Potted palm trees. A mural incorporating the Cuban flag.
Now: The mural’s still there, but it’s flanked by cream-colored banquettes, floors made of seashells and a candlelit lounge with wraparound couches. Yes, we’re thinking date night, too.

Then: Mammoth portions of traditional Cuban cooking.
Now: That same legendary lechón, but bacon-wrapped maduros, also... and something sort of ominous-sounding called “Calorie Conscious Cuban.” Right. Lechón it is.

Then: An upsetting lack of chandeliers festooned with harmonicas.
Now: There’s a big one of those, once owned by Shakira. (Of course it was.) Also, drumsticks that belonged to Sheila E., and a microphone used by Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan.

No, you can’t use it.
