Aventura, we might've underestimated you.
Sure, we knew you had the gargantuan mall and big-box superstores, which we patronize when needed. And yes,
walking "the circle" always yields some social treasures.
But we never thought you'd be tempting us quite like this…
Introducing Bar Rosso, a wine bar so polished, warm and soulful, you'll forget about those CDs you
needed to return to Best Buy, opening Monday.
All dark wood and red leather, Bar Rosso is where you'll want to hide away when you're supposed to be out
picking up towels, coffeemakers and electric fans. Don't let the fact that it's located in a strip mall put
you off—head straight for the marble bar, where more than a hundred
wines (mostly Italian) are on offer in either 3-ounce "piccolo" pours or 9-ounce "quartino" pours. (We
recommend a 3-9-3 attack.)
You'll also want to stop here after a movie at the mall—drop a few coins in the old-timey jukebox and
order a flight of Sangiovese, Brunello and Montepulciano reds, along with small plates of crispy artichokes,
beer-braised clams and creamy baccalau (salted cod).
If you're feeling particularly famished, order the Abondanza deal, which nets you ten plates for
$99.
Top that, P.F. Chang's.
