Gator Chili and 36-Degree Beers on Tap

Gators.

Great watching them get served on the field (hat tip, ’Canes).

Even better watching them get served in a bowl of chili.

So ring the dinner bell for Swank Southern Kitchen, a handsome wood-planked den awash in spiked lemonade, fried green tomatoes and pots of gator chili, now soft-open in Davie.

This place is kind of like a modern-day saloon. It’s outfitted in dark woods. It’s got a stage. And there’re murals of Southern belles and John Wayne on the walls. In the kitchen, chefs from Pubbelly and Nemesis are whipping up a bunch of stuff inspired by the South. So assuming you like cowboy steaks and cold drafts (hint: you do), you’re in luck.

Speaking of which, they’ve got 16 taps at the bar powered by nitro, so your pour’s an icy 36 degrees. Grab one and make your way to a table in the main dining room. Next, find a seat with a direct view into the kitchen. Casually note the selection of gator parts on the menu. Then, get to work on some chicken and waffles drenched in marshmallow syrup.

And for the entertainment portion of your evening: a photo booth. Next to it: a wall where you can post your snapshot.

It’s like the Louvre of selfies.
