Now is not the time to be making bold moves. Conservative, prudent choices, yes. But big, brash maneuvers
are a thing of the past.
Or not.
From the man who brought mega-eateries Buddakan and Morimoto to New York (his name is Stephen Starr) comes
Ft. Lauderdale's biggest, boldest restaurant to date: Steak 954 is now taking reservations for its
Thursday debut.
While we know you might be feeling steak fatigue with the
plethora of
beef parlors
opening this year, we have a feeling you're going to want to hit A1A for a glimpse at this one…
First, let's start with its location—inside the splashy new W hotel, a chain not known for restraint.
Step inside and you'll immediately be struck by the size—more than 200 seats, plus an outdoor garden.
In other words, plenty of room to entertain a group of discerning dry-aged aficionados… or just one
high-heeled aficionado who doesn't mind a little road trip.
Start off at the beautiful stainless steel bar with a cocktail
made from the freshest organic juices. When you're ready to get serious, proceed to one of the lime green
leather banquettes near the 15-foot jellyfish tank—an appropriately jaw-dropping backdrop for your
foie gras tacos, tempura onion rings and, yes, Kobe cheesesteak.
You took it as far as you could, Philly…
