Reinvention. It works in the bedroom (which is now the solarium), it works for Madonna (still), and it pays off when it comes to restaurants.

Which brings us to 660 Mediterranean Kitchen, a new restaurant opened in the former Maison d'Azur space at the boutique Angler's hotel.

You know by now that Maison has shifted locales, and in its absence the hoteliers opted to use the space for decidedly less St. Tropez-inspired shenanigans. Gone are the platters of seafood, the vodka shooters and the live DJ pumping Euro-inspired house (we'll miss you, Fun Factory). In its place is a locals-friendly spot tasteful enough to impress visiting Baselites, and quiet enough for you to listen to your date's love for animals/medicine/NFL football.

The indoor dining room still retains its Francophile charm (fabric-y chairs, cozy nooks), but now that the evenings are sublimely breezy, you'll want to reserve a table on the front patio. Flanked by the hotel's dramatically lit Deco facade and hedges, it doesn't really feel like the French coast as much as...everything you love about Miami. Order up a grilled whole Bronzini with fennel and cap it with plums soaked in cognac and orange sauce. The cocktail list remains the same, full of classic sips with fresh-squeezed juice.

If it ain't broke...
