Terre Firma
Lobster and Wine in a SoBe Backyard
Sure, there are plenty of outdoor options in South Beach.
And yes, some of those involve picturesque courtyards nestled among lantern-lit trees and glowing
pools.
But then along comes a lush patio so hidden and so private that you’ll feel like you’re romancing your
date in the backyard of a laid-back millionaire.
And when that happens, you take note.
Take a look at the
Chef’s Table at Pied à Terre, a new
alfresco
hideaway of lamb, wine and cheese carts, available now on a reservation basis at the South Beach
restaurant.
So, given what’s coming up in a few weeks, you’re thinking: yes, the ideal spot for Groundhog Day (or,
alternatively, Valentine’s, but whatever). And since you’re already familiar with the tiny-but-mighty
restaurant at the Cadet Hotel, you know you’ll be in good hands (very French, genial hands).
Now, usually the table can seat eight to 10 people, but the restaurant will reserve it for as little as two
people. And while you’re welcome to work with the chef (whose previous stints include Napa’s French
Laundry) on a customized menu, you’ll probably want to go with his dishes. Things like
Maple Leaf Duck
Duo with gingerbread pudding and
Guinea Hen Risotto with prosciutto and mint.
It wouldn’t be Groundhog Day without the guinea hen.
