Cocina Confidential
A House of Sin and Tacos in SoFi
We got your memo.
The one that specified your need for a seductive, dark-featured Mexican to spend dinner with this weekend,
ideally in South Beach.
Good thing we’re feeling charitable these days...
Take your first look inside
Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, the new promised land for tequila
and lobster enchiladas, opening this Friday in the former Nemo space in SoFi.
Think of Lolita as
the kind
of taco joint Gary Oldman’s Dracula would open if he had a passion for fresh-pounded guacamole and
agave-enhanced cocktails. Walk into the dark-wooded space and you’ll see it: a sprawling dining room awash
in red velvet, gothic chandeliers and lots of dim lighting.
Once you and your date are settled at a table on the outdoor patio—still spacious and now embellished with
gilded mirrors—your server (outfitted in a tank top and tuxedo jacket—don’t get any ideas) will
deliver gratis shots of grapefruit granita splashed with tequila. That ought to get you in the mood to delve
into their 120-strong tequila list
while
feasting on
Chile-Rubbed Short Rib Nachos and those lobster enchiladas.
Then, when the plates have been cleared, you’ll be graced with a cotton candy tower flecked with Pop
Rocks—on the house.
You’ve always said Pop Rocks pair great with tequila.
