Cluck Off
SoBe’s Lair of Fried Chicken and Bourbon

We’ll be blunt.

You’ll probably want to cancel whatever plans you’ve made for dinner next week.

Because fried chicken news doesn’t get any bigger than this.

Behold Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, a rustic lair of finger-lickin’ poultry and bourbon helmed by former Top Chef-er Jeff McInnis, opening Monday in South Beach.

Here’s when you’ll come here:

For Dinner with a Southern Belle
McInnis is an Alabama boy, so expect heart-stopping concoctions like Fried Green Tomato BLTs and fried chicken with cheddar and chive waffles. And for post-movie dessert: Sweet Potato Beignets with bacon ice cream. That’s right: bacon ice cream.

For Power Lunches
Maybe it’s the walls made of reclaimed wood from a Carolina barn. Or the Edison bulbs dangling inside mason jars. Either way, the place feels like a high-style Southern grandma’s kitchen. Ideal for closing the deal with investors from Savannah.

For Bourbon with Cattle Ranchers and/or Hipsters
Which brings us to the polished steel bar at the ’bird. You’ll have your run of 51 bourbons here—including Jefferson’s Presidential Select 18 Year Old Single Barrel, which you can’t find anywhere else in the city. Then there are the housemade infused bourbons, soaking up flavor from Tennessee bacon, Georgia peaches and pecans.

Paving the way for the porky mint julep.
