New York’s The Cannibal opened in Culver City yesterday for General Tso’s pig’s head and lamb tartare. And over in Silver Lake, vegan joint By Chloe just opened with one of New York’s very best veggie burgers. Thanks, New York. We needed General Tso’s pig’s head. We sorta had veggie burgers.
Tet-a-Tet is a Vietnamese pop-up from Animal’s former chef. But in a few more weeks, it will become a permanent concept called Here’s Looking at You. So it’s kind of like Transformers with blue crab fried rice and Wagyu instead of cars. So it’s kind of better than Transformers.
Gin and vodka. They’re making those in Downtown these days. And if you don’t believe us, you can now visit the Spirit Guild’s new tasting room and try them for yourself. Though we kind of thought there was a bond of trust here.
LA is still a place where you can reinvent yourself. Take the Hungry Cat Santa Monica, for example. It’s calling itself El Gato en la Playa all summer to serve you stuff like duck carnitas, fish tacos and tequila uni shooters. And because it sounds cool.
Negronis are a force for good, obviously. And starting Monday, LA bars are making varied interpretations to benefit nonprofits. So maybe order the Fiscal Agent’s frozen Negroni slushy, Umami’s Negroni burger or Belcampo’s Negroni served in a lightbulb. You’re our only hope.
