If you haven’t been to the gritty Cahuenga gastropub known as District 13 in a while, you’ve got seven
new reasons to go—and they’re all burgers. One’s made of lamb, one’s duck... but the showstopper is
the 50/50, whose patty is half beef, half bacon. Your kind of odds.
In the cavernous former home of Café Was, you’ll now find noticeably more... wolf heads. And bratwurst.
And pretzels. And a bunch of people drinking German beer out of metal mugs. But really, the first thing
you’ll notice is the wolf heads.
The hidden patio at Cliff’s Edge has always been a reliable spot for your Eastside dinner dates. Except
for maybe the dinner part. Enter new chef Benjamin Bailly, a James Beard nominee from Fraîche, who’s
dishing black mussels in apple cider, eggplant caviar and pork belly. He had you at black mussels.
Now that Coolhaus has an actual shop for their famous ice cream, not just a truck... they’ve got room to
get weird. Like, meat-flavored-ice-cream weird. Their new flavors include Peking duck, Manhattan, mint
julep, and fried chicken and waffle. Yes, we’re still talking about ice cream.

PIE GAME
Pie on a Stick, at Your Door
So, pie. There’s a crust and there’s something inside the crust. It’s perfect—no need to change it.
Unless somebody decides to start putting pie on a stick, sort of like pie lollipops. And then deliver them
to your door. All right then. Pie lollipops.
