In Your Eyes
New Sunglasses in Venice

Let’s talk for a minute about your face.
We don’t mean to embarrass you, but—great genes. Really.
And to further beautify it, we’re thinking you could use some classic-looking shades. Specifically, ones
from a guy who’s got eyewear design spiraling down his own DNA.
Introducing
Garrett Leight California Optical, a new line from the son of the founder of Oliver
Peoples, debuting tonight with a beer-and-taco party at his shop on Abbot Kinney.
Basically, there are four styles for glasses or shades here, all retro but not too retro, that’ll work
from the office to Venice Beach to the bedroom. (Well, maybe they’ll come off there.) They’re all named
after Venice streets—Hampton, Rialto, Brooks, Speedway—and they’ve all got the city’s ZIP code,
90291, written on the inside.
The three plastic frames are more classic, if you want to look like you’re in an old black-and-white
movie. But if you’ve been cultivating more of a Hunter S. Thompson look lately, you’ll want Garrett to
show you #4: the limited-edition gold-plated frame with mirrored lenses, which Thompson himself
inspired.
And as a reminder, you’ll be drinking beer and eating tacos while this happens. Because you’ll find
these glasses available for preorder at a little blowout in conjunction with Fashion’s Night Out, starting
at 6pm tonight.
BYO prescription.
