Just three obligations this weekend:

1) Support Kershaw.
2) Drink some beer.
3) Perfunctorily acknowledge the existence of Oktoberfest.

Done, done and doner at LA Biergarten, a new German beer hall with, oh, only 100 options on tap and a few games playing above the bar, opening tonight in Downtown. (Willkommen in der slideshow.)

Big night for LA. And hey, great timing. Because here’s a large Germanic beer hall for you to hunker down in with your fellow fans. Grab your stools along the 60-foot copper-topped bar. The game will be overhead on a bunch of flat-screens. Hanging just above the beer. And oh, the beer.

Again, there’s a lot of that. Lined up in a long, colorful row of 100 various shark-, propeller-, anchor- and other-shaped handles. German stuff. Belgian stuff. House IPA and dunkel. Stout aged in bourbon barrels. Ales reminiscent of pineapple, s’mores and peanut butter.

So you’ll experiment with those. You’ll try something new or not new. Then, eventually, you’ll have some pork wings delivered to your table with brats and half-pound burgers. Everything goes with the beer. It’s science.

And keep an eye on the upstairs area. In a month or two, they’ll open a more secluded lounge up there dedicated to whiskey.

Yes, you may call it a Whiskeygarten.
