Hear ye, hear ye.

Henceforward, it shall be proclaimed and accordingly remembered that on this day, the 17th of December in the year 2014, King Edward, Sovereign of Skid Row, would be reinstated. And someone broughteth a Nintendo.

Get thee to King Eddy Saloon, the classic Downtown bar that’s been cleaned up (but not too much) and made danceable anew under Genesis/Golden Box creator Jeremy Fall, reopening tonight. (See the slideshow here.)

He’s halved the bar, installed some great Ghostbusters neon and chalkboard tables, and reinstated the smoking box. What else has changed? We thought you’d never ask.

Then: It opened in the morning. Early.
Now: It opens at 8pm, four nights a week. There’ll be dancing under disco balls in the back.

Then: Someone might play an AC/DC song on the jukebox.
Now: Jukebox is eye candy. There’s a DJ playing new wave, rock and danceable throwbacks.

Then: You’d drink canned Miller Lite.
Now: More like cans of Golden Road, House Beer, Old Chub and Olympia. Or Miller Lite.

Then: You’d play Ms. Pac-Man and Big Buck Hunter and make interesting new friends.
Now: There are seats for playing Nintendo and Sega Genesis games procured at the bar.
