Beer and Foosball atop the Standard

Technically, Oktoberfest ended yesterday. Which is a shame, because you were just starting to break in your lederhosen.

Fortunately, we found a place stocked with beer, sausage and foosball to extend the celebration. Oh, and it’s high above the city...

Welcome to Biergarten, a new spread of German grub, stunning views and a whole bunch of beer, now residing atop the Standard Downtown.

First off, those crazy red pods on the hotel’s roof haven’t gone anywhere—so you don’t have to worry about a hipster uprising. But now there’s a second spot up there, too: a welcoming grassy knoll with communal tables and foosball that’s a lot like your last backyard blowout. Just with a few more umlauts.

If you’d like, you could stop what you’re doing, rally some coworkers and go right now: they’re open noon to 1am daily. But generally speaking, you might want to go with a bunch of friends around sundown. (A good sunset never made a beer taste worse.)

Take the elevator all the way up and buy an $8 ticket from the booth at the rooftop entrance. That’ll admit you, but you’ll also redeem it for a couple Bavarian weisswursts, a giant pretzel or a German brew like a Bitburger Premium Pils.

Yes, you can buy more than one ticket.
