Take Sunset
A Beer Hideaway in Echo Park

Over the last few days, your holdings took a real hit.

You had to move some things around. Dip into your reserves.

And now, in the cold, hard light of Monday, one fact is clear: you need to restock your beer fridge.

Time to pay a visit to Sunset Beer Company, a new shop devoted exclusively to the noble cause of getting you hundreds of rare ales, lagers and stouts, now open in Echo Park.

You’ll find this place in a random strip mall, but don’t let that discourage you—just think of it like a sushi spot, but for beer. Inside, you’ll notice it. A slight chill in the air. Rows of gleaming bottles in coolers. That warm sense of happiness that washes over you whenever you’re in beer’s immediate vicinity.

So yes, you can buy some bottles here, all craft brews—they’ve got a couple hundred options, from Dale’s Pale Ale to Russian River’s Consecration, a dark Belgian ale. Eventually, they hope to get that number up to a thousand.

But there’s also a secret weapon—an adjacent tasting room, where you’ll want to sample the six rotating beers on tap as well as the bottles you just bought.

Which might lead to a trip back into the shop...
