A Neighborhood Spot with Lots of Draft Wine

Neighborhood crawl advisory:

Be advised: heavy signs of draft wine drinking and joint-to-joint carousing building up on West Pico this weekend.

That was fun. Now, lights up on The Brixton, a new local outfit taking over the Joker’s ruins with Reubens, smoked mac and cheese, and 16 draft wines, opening tomorrow in Santa Monica. (And here we have a slideshow.)

It’s a neighborhood joint with naked beams and an impressive pressed-tin ceiling on the same stretch as Lares and Upper West. So you could do drinks here and dinner there. Or lunch here and drinks there. Or just stay here and do it all.

Hit your nearby points of contact and huddle up in a booth. Someone will surely want one of those draft wines (eight white, eight red), while another someone opts for a strawberry-coconut mojito. You’ll enjoy an IPA and think... Reuben.

So a Reuben on marbled rye it shall be, along with smoked mac and cheese with crab and Nueske’s bacon. Or ricotta dumplings under Fresno chili vadouvan. All will feel right with the world.

Oh, and you can come for happy hour from 3:30 to 6:30 every day. 365 days a year. Really. They promise they’ll be open. Even on Christmas.

What the pope doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
