Sunday night: football.

Tonight: football.

Tomorrow night: cognac-flambéed lobster and a date.

Deal?

Deal. It’ll happen at Le Petit Paris, a not-so-petit new French beauty that has “next big date night” written all over it, soft-opening tomorrow in Downtown. (Cast your eyes upon the majesty of the slideshow.)

It’s everything you look for in a come-hither romanceteria—a grand ballroom with red roses on white tablecloths sparkling under chandeliers. Eiffel Tower imagery. The gilded pillars of one of Downtown’s earliest luxury hotel lobbies. And it all leads up to a central staircase you’d expect Baz Luhrmann to send some ingenue gliding down at any second.

You may obtain your morning coffee, croissants and omelet downstairs here someday. You may take your lunch of lobster pizza and tequila Old Fashioneds at the huge marble bar.

But you’re probably more likely to be up on the mezzanine at a table for two with a bottle of something red and French. Or bubbly and French. Enjoying some occasion that requires oysters, Burgundy escargot and 48-hour rack of lamb.

So, most occasions.
