Bao Wow
Studio City’s New Bao Buns Place
The quick lunch.
Sometimes it’s inevitable. You’ve got a million things going on. But that doesn’t mean you can’t
execute it with a little style. A little Asian flair. Maybe a beer float...
Welcome to
the sharp, modern and shamelessly punny Take a Bao, your new home for lunchtime bao buns and
cocktails inside a modern cube, opening today in Studio City.
First off: you might be familiar with the original Take a Bao stand in the food court of the Westfield
Century City. This... isn’t that. (But it’s from the same people.) It’s more like a full restaurant
inside a crazy shell of random squares that lights up at night, so it can be seen from Mulholland. (Okay,
not that far. But far.)
You’ll order at the counter and take a number to your table, and you’ll probably want to start with some
Lemongrass Caramel Chicken Wings. Then,
choose from
plenty of bao—warm, soft Asian buns filled with everything from duck confit to grilled pork loin. For
dessert: maybe a
Chocolate S’more Bao.
And because it has a full bar, you’ll wash it all down with
Basil Lemonades (there’s vodka),
Hemingway Daiquiris (there’s rum) or a
Coffee Toffee Stout Float: an Old Rasputin with
chocolate fudge and Milk’s coffee toffee ice cream.
Okay, so it might not be
that quick of a lunch.
