Wine and Braised Lamb on La Brea

At some point during a typical week, you usually steer a date into a nice little wine bar.

This week, we suggest you stop procrastinating.

Time to plan a visit to 320 South, a cozy den of cabernet, grenache and red meat, opening today on La Brea.

Think about your favorite sommelier in town. No, the other one. Now picture what his house must look like. This place is a little like that—towers of bottles in front of a brick wall, a homey dining room with simple white chairs and some grown-up-looking art.

They’ll be open for lunch if you just want an hour of Burrata, Asparagus and Olive Tapenade Tartines with a splash of white wine (asparagus: so hot right now).

But unless you work in the area, you’ll probably be more likely to come by in the evening with a date for a two-top covered with some duck leg confit or braised lamb to soak up your tour of wines from California, Tuscany, Provence and Croatia.

You’ve been wanting to do more traveling.
