A Dog-Friendly Pub on Fairfax

You hike Runyon together. You meet dates together. You both like getting your belly rubbed.

Yes, you and your dog have a lot in common—but you rarely get to hit the pubs together. (He’s so busy.)

But there’s a new place in town that’s ready to change all that. It’s called The Fat Dog, a sleek little gastropub that welcomes two-legged and four-legged customers alike, now open on Fairfax.

You’ll find it right next to those aforementioned tattooed women with cleavers—a big patio under a modern loft building, where you and your mutt can hang out all afternoon and into the evening. Preferably with an Off-Leash (bourbon, Aperol, lemon and honey) and a hot dog or Braised Short-Rib French Dip Sandwich. Both for you. Officially.

But if you left the dog at home to meet up with some friends who want to watch the Lakers go for a three-peat, head inside for a table by the bar. There are a couple of screens behind the counter, they’ve got a dozen beers on tap, and they’re not afraid to fry whatever’s around—green olives, a banana split.

Oh, and there are pictures of dogs everywhere.

Oddly, none of them are playing poker.
