Riding the Rails, Maharaja-Style
Royalty and you: a lot in common.
The bloodline. Attention to leisure. Penchant for sports that require ponies.
And then there’s this train ride in India...
Introducing
Royal Sojourn, a new eight-day train journey where you’ll follow in the footsteps of the kings of India, taking reservations now for October departures on the Maharajas’ Express.
Before you start thinking this is exactly like that movie starring Adrien Brody and Owen Wilson, we’re here to tell you: yes, but only a little.
You’ll board the train one evening in Delhi and make your way to your cabin. We’re thinking
the spacious Grand Presidential Suite—an entire car with bathtub en suite and private chauffeur. Rest up, because for the next seven days, you’ll be riding a leisurely loop through Jaipur (for a jeep excursion to an 11th-century fort), Kota (for a river cruise and dinner at Asman Garh Palace) and Agra (for champagne breakfast overlooking the Taj). You know. How the maharajas would have done it.
And if the sights of India’s distant past (or the wild game drive in search of tigers) aren’t enough for you, you can opt for a few extracurriculars. Like playing in an elephant polo match.
No, you can’t play on the train.
