Restaurant Week. It’s... fine. But Whiskey Week just sounds better. And Whiskey Weeks sounds better than that. Civil Cigar Lounge is in the midst of two weeks of whiskey flights, like “County Cork,” “The Peats” and “NKOTB.” No Wahlbergs were involved in the making of those whiskeys.
Georgetown’s ENO Wine Bar just got more date-worthy. Because they’ve turned their basement wine cellar into a candlelit hideaway, where you can sit on suede seats and decide among 233 wines by the bottle or 26 flights. It’s cozy, it’s dark, it’s romantic. And that’s probably enough adjectives.
You know what they say: when the Nats are away, the trucks will play. Okay, they don’t say that, but nevertheless, here comes another 12-hour Truckeroo at the Fairgrounds, with 25 trucks, three bands and an alfresco beer garden. May we suggest a two-trucks-per-hour pace.
And now, for probably the only thing the Czech Republic and Texas have in common: these Czech pastries, filled with egg and cheese, or blueberry. They’re from a couple of transplanted Houstonians, and you’ll find them at American Ice Co. Look for the neon cowboy hat. Really.
