Things to do for March 08, 2012

The Weekender

Bourbon on Tap, Bogart and All-Night Brunch

The weekend is super as well.

Thursday
Bourbon, from the Barrel to the Spout
TAP DANCE

Bourbon, from the Barrel to the Spout

Now on tap alongside your favorite beers at Jack Rose: single-barrel bourbon. The specific whiskey will change, but for now, it’s Willett Orange Blossom Special bourbon. And coming soon: taps dispensing barrel-aged Negronis and Manhattans. Next thing you know, they’ll be putting beer in bottles.

Friday
Midnight Classics at E Street Cinema
E STREET SHUFFLE

Midnight Classics at E Street Cinema

All that free-flowing bourbon may have you primed for some classic film noir. Good thing E Street Cinema is kicking off its midnight movie series with The Maltese Falcon. In weeks to come, you can catch The Hustler, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Dazed and Confused. So classic film noir.

All-Night Menu Debuts at Kitchen2404
PRE-BRUNCH

All-Night Menu Debuts at Kitchen2404

The biggest problem with brunch: waiting until the next morning for it. No more, as Glover Park’s Southern-fried bar/dining room starts turning out andouille Benedict, biscuits and gravy, and steak and eggs starting at 11pm. You can come back again in the morning.

Saturday
Racing Bikes in a Parking Garage
QUICKSILVER

Racing Bikes in a Parking Garage

Like a Super Bowl for bike messengers, this daylong competition sets up an obstacle course in a parking garage. There’ll also be a ride down the Potomac to the event from the Mall, street art and bike polo pickup games. Tattoos not required, but encouraged.

ARTISTIC DRINKING

Artini Tickets Now on Sale

Drinks from a dozen top mixologists. Live music. So far, not unlike a typical Saturday. Less typical: doing it in a museum. The Corcoran is throwing open its halls for the night and bringing lots of bartenders. Whom you can track down for preview nights between now and the event.
