Heirloom-Quality Boots in Georgetown

This is a public service announcement: it’s probably time to put the beach shoes away.

We know. The three of you had a good run this year.

But look at it this way: it’s almost time to put a good bit more leather on your feet.

The kind of stunningly beautiful leather you can grab at The Frye Company, opening tomorrow in Georgetown.

You might know this space overlooking the canal. Former fire station. Former touristy Italian joint. Now it’s dark and woody, with leather straps hanging from the ceiling, and leather couches on which to mull over your footwear choices.

Speaking of which, you’re probably familiar with these boots. Been around since the Civil War. The Smithsonian has a pair. Patton wore a pair. You get a pair, you break them in, they’ll last forever—especially their made-in-the-US 150th anniversary line.

Like the iconic Harness boot, with the straps across the instep and the ankle, perfect for working that “Motörhead roadie” look. Or the chain-gang-inspired Prison Boot, like what they gave Andy at the beginning of Shawshank, but much nicer. Or for something a little more buttoned up, look to the polished, cap-toe Logan boot.

Not that chain gangs aren’t buttoned up.
