The snow is melting. The days are an hour longer. The Nationals are saying optimistic things in Florida. Yes, spring has sprung.

It all makes you want to get out, jump around and do something you might regret. Ideally, at 1am with a draft beer in your hand.

Welcome to U Street Music Hall, a dark, industrial space for all forms of DJ and dance music, scheduled to open Wednesday in the old Cue Bar space.

This is a dressed-up version of that cavernous spot where you used to rave back in the heady days of the housing bubble and John Edwards as a viable presidential candidate—all low lighting, stained concrete floors and a massive DJ booth facing a stage on the other end.

You'll make your way downstairs from U Street, belly up to the room-length bar and select from six beers on draft and a grilled cheese or sausage. But you won't linger long: the focus will be on the mammoth wooden floor (cushioned with cork underneath) and the 40,000-watt sound system (like a jet engine, but with better melody).

The bona fides: two of the city's top DJs, Will Eastman (who anchored the Bliss dance party at the Black Cat for years) and Jesse Tittsworth (who has toured with Kanye), hold down the underground fort here. They'll spin on occasion, between turning over the decks to top talent from DC and beyond. First up on Wednesday: locals the Beautiful Swimmers, along with Belgium-based duo Aeroplane.
