Changing Lanes

Two Levels of Bowling, Bocce and Fire Pits

This weekend, it’s all about football. And that’s fine.

But next week, you’ll need to find something else. Like bocce, bowling and all the funny-looking shoes that implies.

Here: Pinstripes, a giant bowling alley/bocce court/bar/restaurant out of the Midwest, opening next Friday in Georgetown Park.

If you’d like to run your own, scaled-down Olympics, in which all the events involve rolling balls, then the timing couldn’t be better. And you might want to approach things in stages...

Pregame. Walk in. Take in the almost spa-like array of natural stone. Request a table. Request a bowling lane. Then make a left into the dining room and carbo-load on lasagna and ahi tuna flatbreads.

The Main Event. Strut over to one of the six bocce courts or 14 bowling lanes. Imagine Al Michaels’s voice in your head. Do your thing. In between frames, you’ll sit on leather couches and summon servers to fortify you with local drafts. Or maybe a whiskey sour made with orange marmalade.

Cooldown. After you’ve sandbagged the competition, you’ll repair to the outdoor patio, grab a blanket out of a basket, huddle around the fire pit and order some housemade limoncello.

Just the thing for those aching bowling muscles.
